Organic food has become quite popular since the disclosure of hidden dangers in our food. This increases people’s awareness which brings their focus to their lifestyle.  With awareness, it brings the desire for change. It can be the change in their environment, their finances, or perhaps, spirituality.  However, that drive for change comes ambition and determination.   As the world grasps to understand and handle the world COVID-19 pandemic people are striving for any type of normalcy and a sense of control. What better way to take control than starting with your health?  The place to start when it comes to your health is your eating habits.

The food you eat is what fuels your body. We have all heard this over and over again from many different social media platforms to healthcare advisers and doctors.  They all seem to say the same thing by saying whatever we put in our bodies will and can affect every aspect of our life one way or another.   In order to perform in peak condition, you must fuel your body properly. Excellent fuel is key.

Consuming organic food is an excellent option to start your healthy journey. It provides an array of benefits for your overall health not just physically but mentally.  However, most people are hesitant to eat organically due to cost or feel it is inconvenient.  It can be a minefield sorting out through all the latest diet fads. This can be a daunting task which leads to people giving up prematurely without truly knowing how to eat healthily.  Counting calories is never fun plus as of late we all assumed the devil is in the calories.

Calories are not the true enemy. The true enemy lies hidden in the ingredients.

So what are the benefits of organic food? Organic offers a plethora of benefits. Organic food delivers more nutrients, bolder flavors, and a cleaner and healthier system than non-organic food.  The flavor alone with organic is exceptional.  That benefit alone reflects just how the natural process of preparing the food is honored. The natural flavor bursting onto your tongue as it dances upon your tastebuds brings the whole eating experience to a whole other level.

If you choose to eat organically there aren’t any overwhelming details.   It is quite simple.  Eating organically means the food you are consuming is unaltered, unmodified, and not enhanced in some scientific lab.  Do you want your food to come from a lab?  Or do you prefer to farm to table?

Benefits of Organic Food vs Conventional Food

Organic food should be processed naturally without the fillers, without the chemicals, modified,  or engineered in some way. Non-organic food usually contained with extra additives such as High Fructose Corn Syrup. This additive is a lump of processed, manufactured sugar.  To put it simply- fake sugar.  The supply and demand for certain food have placed a strain in certain markets.  In other words, most foods are altered so the crop will produce more fruit or vegetables.  It has become a common practice, especially in the United States, to include additives in the food.  These additives are believed to be the cause of major health problems such as obesity.

Since we are discussing the healthy options of organic eating then it is vital to mention organic food has more nutrients.  The organic fruit or organic vegetable is not bombarded with harsh chemicals in order to preserve longer shelf life.  Imagine an apple being sprayed or injected with a chemical so it will sit in the produce section longer.  As time goes on that chemical is dulling its potent nutrients thus leaving behind a chemical after taste with little to no remaining nutrients.   So not only is your flavor compromised but the health benefit as well.

Benefits of Organic food vs conventional food doesn’t stop with the fruit and vegetables.  Anyone must consider all factors of organic.   This includes dairy, meats,  eggs, and yes, honey.  It is surprising to learn that not all honey is processed naturally.    How an animal is raised and fed before slaughtering or butchering has a direct impact on your health.   Synthetic hormones enter your body if they were given to the animal.  Any chemical that has been added to your food does and will end up in your body.

A good rule of thumb to live by when it comes to eating organic is if you can pronounce all the ingredients then it is truly organic.  Be mindful of your ingredients and do your research if you are unsure about anything added or included in your food.  Organic food is an excellent benefit to have in securing your happy and healthy lifestyle.
